Wengen La Patrie Des Bon Skieurs (The Home of Good Skiers)

Price

$5,000.00

Lithograph in colours printed in 1947. This is the French language version of the famous Peikert poster for the Swiss alpine resort of Wengen. Peikert starts with a Truth: That Wengen Switzerland is the "Home of Good Skier's"! It is to this day. They are even host to a World Cup Downhill Race -one of the most technical on the FIS circuit.
Martin Peikert truly is one of the most accomplished skiing poster artists! I'd go as far as to say he's the David Klein of Ski Posters. Peikert is both precise and whimsical in his illustrations. He created dozens of travel posters and ski posters for prestigious resorts in the Swiss and German Alps.
Peikert used his first wife Henriette as a model silhouette here, and later of course for the famous MOB Girl on a Train Poster, or Gstaad etc. He was attracted to the beauty of life: Ski Resorts / Magical Mountains / Strikingly Fashionable Women, and appreciation to and connection with mountain ski towns.
