STOWE DERBY
$750.00
Facts. The Stowe Derby started in 1945 and ran from the top of Mount Mansfield about 10 miles to the Village of Stowe. (Finish Line can be flexible., depending on the snow conditions in Town. 4 miles of the race descent the Toll Road, logically suitable of course for using Downhill Skis, but the remaining miles were undulating and favored X C skis. The rule is you could not switch skis, but it was abundantly clear this was to the advantage of XC racers. It's a great Stowe Tradition. This poster is the best example of a promotion poster for the Derby-and was done in an expensive screenprint format for this edition of the race. I raced the course several times and got this poster. And as the Vermont HS State Champion in 79/80 Season representing the best skier in state combining both disciplines (DH Slalom and XC combined) let me tell you I got my ass kicked. This race favored elite X C Skiers many on the US Ski Team, and it was punishing. The silver lining- This poster.
