Original vintage travel advertising poster published by Imperial Airways Ltd to promote its Ensign Air Liner for European Services featuring two decks able to carry 40 passengers on board and travel at a speed of 200 M.P.H. at a weight of 20 tons to destinations served by Imperial Airways including Europe Africa India the Far East Australia Bermuda and New York listed below the stylised title text and Speedbird logo. Fantastic artwork by the British artist and illustrator James Gardner (James "Leslie" Gardner; 1908-1995) featuring a colourful cut out technical drawing of an Ensign Air Liner plane flying over the sea at night with the lights of a coastal town and boats visible below, showing the passengers and crew on board in the different sections of the aircraft, including the smoking cabin, midship cabin, aft cabin and the kitchen, lavatories and cockpit with the various components of the plane fuselage, wings and engines all referenced in small text with arrows around the plane. Published in England by Imperial Airways Ltd., London. Printed in Great Britain by Ben Johnson & Co. Ltd. Horizontal. Very good condition, restored tears, light staining on margins, backed on linen.
