Amazing Modernist Travel poster for the "Glacier des Diablerets cable-car" near Gstaad in the Swiss Alps. It also captures a small aircraft presumably the "Piper aircraft of the famous Swiss pilot Hermann Geiger landing on the glacier. The cable-car up to 3000 meters was opening in 1964. Hermann Geiger (October 27, 1914 - August 26, 1966) was a Swiss aviator, search and rescue pilot whose heroic actions gave him national hero status. He pioneered the art of landing his PIPER CUB on glaciers in the Swiss Alps like no other. Has executed over 600 rescue missions as he managed to land his specially modified aircrafts under extreme conditions on snow covered glaciers. He died from injuries suffered in a fatal plane-crash. He was also known as the "Eagle from Sion" or "King of Mountain pilots" (Wikipedia).
